Edie Brickell出生于1966年，在一所教会大学上了一学后，她加入了在当地一家酒吧中表演的乐队：New Bohemians，她与乐队以Edie Brickell and New Bohemians的名义于1988年发行了第一张专辑Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars，专辑在评论和商业上都超级成功，尤其其中的第一首歌what i am成为了TOP 10的超火歌曲。1990年，他们的第二张专辑Ghost of a Dog发行后，Edie Brickell离开了乐队。
一次，当Edie Brickell在NBC电视台的Saturday Night Live中表演what i am时，她发现Paul Simon正站在摄像师前，注视着她，她被这位民谣老将或专注或色迷迷的眼神惹得情迷意乱，歌也没唱好…从此，俩人就算搭上了，最终在1992年结了婚，婚后，Edie Brickell更多的时间放到了家庭和孩子身上（生了仨），在1994年出了张个人专辑Picture Perfect Morning 后就基本销声匿迹了，直到2003年，才携专辑Volcano回归，在新专辑中还亮了手新学的吉他。2006年她又与New Bohemians重组，发行了Stranger Things。
